History of Alpha Lambda Omega Christian Sorority,
Inc.
The spring semester of the
year 1990, was a period of rapid and enriching growth for the founders of Alpha Lambda Omega Christian Sorority, Inc. The
spark that started the fire was the salvation of one of the founders, Tyesha Elam. This event was a result of the joint effort
of the three remaining founders: Amanda Tezeno-Broussard, Dawn Walton-Eberhart, and Terra Delaney-O’Brien. Thus, the
rebirth of one of the founders indirectly resulted in the birth of Alpha Lambda Omega Christian Sorority, Inc.
The
date was March 23, 1990. Through an abundance of brainstorming and divine revelation, the group came up with the name of the
organization, its mascot, the colors, the purpose, and the motto. The group knew this was something the Lord wanted them to
do, because in the book of Matthew 18:20 it states,
Thus, stepping out on faith to do the will of the Lord, led to
the establishment of Alpha Lambda Omega Christian Sorority, Inc.
Jesus never fails! On April 9, 1990 Alpha Lambda Omega
Christian Sorority, Inc. was approved as a registered student organization. The first charter line consisted of nine ladies
during the spring of 1991. By the spring of 1992 and new chapter was charted at Prairie View A & M University. The organization
has been growing ever since.

History of the Zeta Joshua Chapter
After being introduced to Alpha Lambda Omega Christian
Sorority, Inc. for the first time at the University of Texas Innervisions Choir’s College Day, Patricia Griffin felt
in her spirit this organization was needed at Southwest Texas State University (aka Texas State University). After finding
other interested women, Annisha Jara' Downs helped Patricia write and send the interest letter to the National office.
Many semesters passed, but finally in the summer
of 2000, Patricia was contacted by National Director Sharon Scott. The first informal interest meeting was held October 31,
2000 with Sheri Williams. After meeting with Student Organizations Coordinator Terence Parker, Patricia and Jarà had all the
paperwork necessary to register the chapter.
It was a long online process filled with tears, doubts,
arguments, laughter, joy, and lots of prayer. With God’s grace, the first line of the Zeta Joshua chapter crossed April
21, 2001 in Austin at the UT campus.
The line name was Spiritually Blessed (Galatians
5:22-23) with the following eight chartering members: Annisha Jarà Downs, Patricia Griffin, Kari
Williams, Shawnita Weston, Crystal Pollard, Dwan Ervin, Latoya Haywood, and Katora Stallworth. Joyce
Lawson served as the Faculty Advisor. Zeta Joshua became a registered student organization on April 30, 2001 making it the
sixth chapter of Alpha Lambda Omega Christian Sorority, Inc.
